About Mission - Hiking

Hiking opportunities in Mission and the Fraser Valley are endless. You can hike to the top of local mountains to gain spectacular views, hike around lakes, through wet lands and marshes, through second and old growth forests, bird sanctuaries and dykes along the Fraser River. Hiking ranges from easy walking to difficult mountain climbing, whatever your abilities, there is plenty of options. There are some excellent easy hikes to local waterfalls Like Cascade Waterfalls and many trails leading through protected bird sanctuaries like Cheam Wetlands, Burns Bog and Pitt Addington Marsh to name a few. There are also more difficult hikes that require experience or guides like Mount Cheam, Widgeon Falls, Bear Mountain or Rolley Falls. These are just a few as the list of trails and hikes in the Mission area are endless.

A wealth of recreation opportunities exists in and around the Municipal Forest. Located around the Stave and Hayward Reservoirs, the District of Mission manages 9 trails varying in degree of difficulty and uses. Brochures are available from our office. This website offer a wealth of information including maps and pictures.
